Testing in Firefox, all videos played perfectly fine. I checked the flash player version, cleared the browser cache, all with no change. There is a link to a help page, but none of the tips solved the issue for me. What do you need as a web developer that you can't find in Gimp? You may like it or not (because you're too used to Photoshop) but Gimp has more that what you could actually need to make a website. I gave gimp many tries, as a mock-up tool and as a image manipulation tool and it never even came close to photoshop both in user experience and tools.
